Pallet racking: types, designs, selection features

Heavy duty storage racks are an integral part of warehouse logistics and product storage. These structures play a key role in creating efficient storage space and systematic and quick access to stored materials. Pallet racks manufactured by Angleshelves are your best choice due to their low prices and high quality.

Types of pallet racking

Beam racking:

This is the most common type of racking. They allow easy access to each pallet and are ideal for warehouses with a large number of products. The main advantage is the flexible use of space – pallets can be arranged both vertically and horizontally.

Mezzanine shelf: A mezzanine is built on the existing shelves or workspace to increase the storage area. The mezzanine floor can usually be used to place light weight and small and medium-sized goods or goods with a long storage period. Forklifts, conveyor belts and other turnover goods can be used. The second floor can usually be designed as a steel platform for bulk goods storage

Drawer-type pallet shelf: The height is adjustable, and the drawer-type structure is convenient for taking out goods. It is suitable for storing all kinds of light and medium-density goods. The goods storage height is low, which is suitable for occasions where goods are frequently taken out

Gravity shelf:

Each cargo grid is a stock slide with a fixed slope. The cargo unit loaded into the slide by the warehouse crane automatically moves from the warehouse end to the warehouse end under the action of its own weight. Move from the outbound end until the outbound end of the slideway or the existing goods unit stops. In order to reduce the friction between the cargo box and the shelf, rollers are provided on the inventory slideway.

Cantilever shelf: suitable for storing irregular goods such as long objects and plates, which can be flexibly adjusted according to the length of the goods. They are usually composed of columns and cantilevers. The cantilevers can be single-sided or double-sided, and the goods can be placed directly on the cantilevers.

Design features of pallet racks

The main elements of the pallet rack system include:

Column and beam: constitute the skeleton of the shelf and bear the main load.

Connectors and fasteners: ensure the stability and durability of the structure.

Protective elements: prevent damage to the shelves and goods when handling loading and unloading equipment.

Additional features: safety systems, mesh barriers, dividers and labeling systems to enhance overall safety and storage organization.
